  5. um... as far as I can tell the only "writing assignment" in world Lit is the final essay which, I think, is whatever topic you want

  6. yea, check the syllabus, because we have a simulation, presentation, and chapter 5 of roots due next plus a couple books for those of us in SoLed and something else. So get the make up homework done this week and even some stuff that is due next week, because it is going to get busy!
So, i was reading roots, and i am getting so many thoughts! one that was really interesting is when kirk says that other cultures thought a messiah (or some form of one would come) and they thought that he would be divine and save their souls. The jews, on the other hand, thought that he would be some sort of military leader that would free them from rome. Interesting how the other cultures got it right and the jews didn't, huh?

    peace out, my novas!

  8. So I’ve been catching up on all of the recorded classes and hear is my creative work for the 15th. Unfortunatly I’m not ancient or Chinese ha ha but here it is….

I Have No Life but This

I have no life but this
I must use it or dismiss
So with my one life amiss
What great things can I do that won’t be, in some ways, a myth?
Where to start where to begin
What to do before it all ends?
I know I have a melody deep down inside of me
Where there is a talent of sweet harmony
I know I must unlock this ability
Let rhythmical melody fill the air and release my musical agility.
To learn to speak Spanish, French, and ASL
Would be to reach even farther in the art of achieve and excel.
To gratify a burning crave so near to the surface of my heart
An ambitious, competitive, active, and innovative athlete’s part
    To dance and dream
    To soar and sing
All of these things I frequently desire
And I persistently intend to aspire
    Where is that author’s quell
To pen this down will relinquish my zeal
    Where is that poet divine
Who once said if I tried he would dine?
    I once said to myself
    To orate would be great
    To motivate, generate, and create.
I yearn to make a difference
I feel the impact in the distance
It is my wish to ignite a bright beam of light
A light so bright that will gleam in the darkest night
    To forever shine
Please God give me more time
    I pine over my desires
And it is my hope to continue on growing and learning
To continue on expanding and influencing.

  9. So I was going through my annotations and I really liked what Captain Kirk added about what Epictetus taught. “Epictetus is said to have been tortured by his master, and to have learned from helpless suffering that happiness is the product of the will, not of external forces!” And thats really profound on many levels.

  11. okay, so in Ivanhoe I thought that the part when Prince John Takes the pouch of money from Issac was... interesting...
here is what I might have said to Prince John had I hav a standing closer to his or had I not been in danger of being killed... :P
"so... what you are saying is that you want ME to give YOU money so that you can pay a fool for insulting me and knocking me down the stairs?"
    silly people...
